About

Forging history
since 1978

1978

We launched Jean-Yves Fortin Soudure Inc. as a small general welding shop.

1981

We expanded and relocated to a 5,000 sq. ft. building in the industrial heart of Montmagny. At the time, we manufactured fabricated metal, trailers and even a 45-foot steel boat.

1984

We focused on manufacturing small steel structures for commercial buildings. We also specialized in work requiring sandblasting, which led us to become a major subcontractor to Bombardier.

1990

This period marked our real expertise in subcontracting structural steelwork for a variety of partners. Gradually, subcontracting became a major part of our production capacity.

1999/
2000

We undertook a major digital shift with the acquisition of digitally controlled processing equipment. After several expansions, our production facility increased to 50,000 square feet with an adjoining 27,000-square-foot warehouse.

2005

We obtained our AISC (American Institute Of Steel Construction) quality certification.

2007

Jean-Yves Fortin passed the torch to Richard Gagné, an engineer by training who had been with the company for 20 years.

2009

Jean-Yves Fortin Soudure Inc. became Acier Fortin.

2010

We extensively invested in optimizing our structural steel manufacturing processes, replacing and introducing new state-of-the-art equipment, and enhancing our team’s expertise.

2024

Mr. Richard Gagné handed over the company reins Mr. Keven Rodrigue, an accountant by training with a degree in business administration. Before acquiring Acier Fortin, Mr. Rodrigue had built up a wealth of experience in business management and development across several industries. His goal is to ensure the company's long-term viability and to make it a leader in structural steel subcontracting.

On a mission for mutual success

We are committed to being the most efficient structural steel manufacturing facility to support your growth.

An optimistic vision
